Description
A good Georgian tea caddy of oval form with beading to the upper and lower rims, the lid is slightly domed and has a large finial. There is a lead presser that was used to keep the contents from drying out. On the base there is a faint set of hallmarks that are attributed to the unknown maker R P, who worked around 1780.Circa 1780.
The condition is excellent with a lightly polished silver grey finish and slight traces of oxide. There are no repairs. The back of the caddy shows clear signs of regular use, maybe on a shelf or counter where it has been pushed against a wall or similar.
