Description
Antique Guernsey flagon of 1/2 pot capacity, heart shaped lid with twin acorn thumb piece. This style of flagon is know as 'type 2'.The lid bears the maker's mark 'NLC' with two Tudor roses and a Guernsey, these marks are attributed to Nicolas Le Cheminant, who worked 1780-1830. There are also ownership initials 'IP' stamped on the lid. There are also the 'five-leafed rose' and 'fleur-de-lys' Guernsey verification seals stamped below the rim.
The flagon is in excellent condition with a polished silver-grey finish, note that the inside is coated with possibly paint from the flagon being used to hold artists brushes or similar. (This is reflected in the price).
