Description

Description:
A lidded tankard of 1 quart OEWS capacity, of tulip form with a double dome lid with open chairback thumb piece. The body has fillet to the middle of the drum and stands on a flared foot. The handle is of double scroll form with a fishtail terminal. There are no makers marks but this style of tankard is often associated with Bristol makers. The tankard would date to circa 1760.
Condition:
Excellent condition with a polished silver grey finish and some small traces of light oxide.
Repairs: There are no repairs that I could detect.
Size:
Height to top of thumb piece: 7.50 in (19.00cm).
Base diameter: 4.375in (11.2cm).
Capacity: 33.40floz, 1 quart Old English Wine Standard.
Weight: 857 grams.
