Description:
Antique European pewter wavy edge plate of 9.50 inch diameter. This is a well made plate with a heavy cast rim. There are no visible touch marks or other makers / ownership marks. There are many knife marks to the front showing signs of regular use.

Condition:
The plate is in excellent condition with a polished finish to the front, with very slight traces of oxide. The reverse is also lightly polished with some very light oxide.

Repairs: There are no repairs.

Size: 9.50 inch diameter (24.00cm).

Weight: 578 grams.

Description:
A Dutch pewter Angel flagon, known as 'Engelenkan' in Holland, probably from the town of Maastricht, circa 1720. The flagon has a large bulbous body with a flat lid with a solid erect thumbpiece cast with a relief of an angel's head; hence the name angel flagon. There is a partial touch mark to the base.

Note: A similar example is published in Van tin gegoten, uittin genoten, page 218, item number 173.

Condition:
Excellent condition with a polished silver grey finish and some very small traces of light oxide.

Repairs: There are no repairs that I could detect.

Height to top of finial: 11.00 in (28.50cm).
Base diameter: 5.00in (12.8cm).

A fine antique Flemish pewter flagon of bulbous form, with dome lid and ridged erect thumb piece.
The flagon is in excellent condition with a silver grey finish.
The flagon bears good marks to the base, makers touch mark, ‘hammer and initials I C’ for Jacob Cockelet, who died in 1794 and marked, ‘H.LEYS ANTWERPEN’. H Leys probably took over the business of Cockelet and continued to use his marks.

Antique Flemish pewter straining dish of 11.25in diameter, by Franciscus Janssens of Brussels. The most likely use of these plates was in cheese making or other domestic uses.
The plate has a reeded rim and inscribed lines to the centre.
The plate has a clear set of touch marks to the front along with ownership initials ‘PS’.
The plate is in excellent condition with a polished silver finish to the face and a natural grey patina to the reverse. It is interesting to see on the face the lines lightly inscribed by the maker to guide the positioning of the straining holes.

Antique Dutch pewter hanging box, these may have been used to store salt or soap, but the exact use is unclear. Made from a circular cup base with a soldered on curved hanger, which is struck with an un-identified touch mark, Circa1820. P. Hornsby shows a very similar example on p366, Fig 1274; in his book ‘Pewter of the Western World’. It is heavy and well made, with modest wear. It is in excellent original condition, with medium-dark grey original surface patina.
